If you don’t already have a voice-activated device in your home or office, chances are you will in the next few years. The popularity of Amazon’s Echo, the Apple Watch and Apple’s Siri (voice to text being particularly useful in a car) shows that we’re becoming increasingly comfortable with talking to our technology. According to Folio.com, a recent NPR/Edison study found that smart speakers are currently in 7 percent of homes 11 percent of WiFi enabled homes have a voice assistant installed. Last year, Google saw 20 percent of queries coming through as voice searches. So it’s likely that we’ll be seeing more voice-activated technology in the near future, found in unexpected places and used in new ways.
