Instead, publishers are using powerful images on their covers as a marketing tool to increase subscriptions and attract social media, drawing readers to the website. Paragraph Borders in InDesign CC2018

InDesign CC 2018 has just been released, with some great new features for designers. One that’s particularly welcome is the Paragraph Borders feature, which lets you add one or more borders around a paragraph of text. This feature can be combined with the (updated) Paragraph Shading feature to create some terrific visual effects!

Magazines are using Facebook Watch to highlight their brands

Facebook Watch may be the best new way for magazine publishers to put their brands in the spotlight. The recently launched Watch feature lets publishers upload original video content, ranging from comedy, reality TV, sports and documentaries. Similar to YouTube, Watch lets Facebook users subscribe to channels and discover new shows. Our current favorite is Time Inc.’s “Homemade vs. The Internet”, a hilarious cooking competition show, with just the right amount of cheek — perfect for web viewing.

Wonderlust Travel site launch from Spin & Gear magazines founder

Bob Guccione, Jr., the founder of Spin and Gear magazines, has just launched a new travel website called Wonderlust (WonderlustTravel.com).
